Our school leaders met with the delegation of Architectural Department of Cardiff University in the UK
On the morning of September 14th, vice principal Luo Xueke met with a line of four persons from Architectural Department of Cardiff University in the UK, including Phillip j. Jones, professor and researcher Hou Shanshan etc. Director of International Office Xiong Jiaquan, party committee secretary of Architecture and Art Department Zhang Bo and dean of Architecture Department Ma Xin attended the meeting.
Vice principal Luo Xueke introduced overall situation of running school and development of architecture major in recent years, and gave high expectation to deepen cooperation with Cardiff University. Professor Jones introduced their research achievements in the field of low-carbon building technology and cooperation with domestic colleges and universities, and held great expectations to cooperation and communication with our school.
The line of professor Phillip j. Jones then
visited teaching facilities of Architecture and Art Department and made an
academic report whose topic was low carbon buildings and urban design, which
emphatically introduced and analyzed the application of low-carbon building
technology in Britain and raised strong interest of teachers and students.
In the afternoon, the line of professor
Phillip j. Jones, dean and teachers of Architecture and Art Department held a
discussion on specific ideas about teaching cooperation, teacher exchanges and
joint research etc. Through discussion, both sides reached targets of deepening
understanding and reaching consensus, which laid a solid foundation for formal
cooperation of next step.
Cardiff University is famous in British
universities, tying for the 21st in the UK and ranking 123th in the world from
2014QS world university rankings. Its main majors include architecture, civil
engineering, medicine, law, communication, etc. Professor Phillip j. Jones is
president of architecture technology in Architecture Department of Cardiff
University, honorary academician of the Royal Institute of Architects in Wales
and internationally famous experts in the field of low carbon architecture
research and design. From 2002 to 2014, he had been a dean of Architecture
Department of Cardiff University and hosted to establish China research center
to strengthen cooperation with China.
